Morse Manufacturing Company History

There is a reason Morse Mfg. has remained one of the top drum handling equipment companies since 1923. Morse offers the most extensive line of drum handling equipment and each material handling product is specifically designed by a Morse engineer to be above industry standards. The Morse Mfg. Co. has a commitment to making sure their products are and remain American made.

Morse Manufacturing assisted during the World War II war effort by producing safe and labor-saving drum handling equipment for manufacturers who made war materials and for members of the armed forces.

Over the last quarter century, Morse has created many innovative drum handling products including the 4-wheel drum truck, stainless steel drum handlers for food manufacturing and pharmaceutical applications, MORSpeed TM forklift attachments, and expanded Hydra-Lift Drum Karriers and Forklift-Karriers with powered versions which offer hydraulic and electronic power lift and tilt options. Morse Mfg. offers an extensive number of custom design and manufacturing possibilities so that consumers can build many models for special applications unique to necessary specifications.

Top Morse Manufacturing Products

A Morse drum rotator provides a method of mixing ingredients right inside your sealed drum.

You can quickly load an upright drum into the Tilt-To-Load Rotator at floor level with: Drum Truck, model 81 Drum Spotter, or with a below-hook drum lifter and your hoist or crane.

Nationwide Industrial Supply offers a wide range of Morse Drum and Barrel Lifters and Morse Below-the-Hook Drum Lifters.

With the Morse Hydra-Lift Karrier one person can safely and easily handle a fully loaded drum. Minimal physical labor is needed to lift, move and control the pouring of the drum weighing up to 800 lbs. The lift height on this piece of Morse Mfg. industrial drum handling equipment is 96”.

The Morse Drum Handling Vertical Lift Drum Pourers provide both simple handling by one person and exceptional strength of the drum handling equipment. The maximum lift height of this drum handler is 106”.

The Morse Drum Stacker is a safe and efficient material handling solution for drum racking. The MORStak Drum Racker is compact and designed for proper ergonomics and increased safety. The drum stackers have an 800 lb. load capacity and only handle 55-gallon (208 liter) steel or plastic drums with a top rim.

A Morse drum tumbler allows you to turn your drum end-over-end. A drum tumbler is a piece of equipment used to mix plastic pellets or similar contents with other materials or to regrind ingredients. The drum tumbles end-over-end or rotates on an inclined axis to quickly and completely blend the materials. The Morse end-over-end drum tumblers will mix the contents more aggressively than other drum tumblers and rotators. The Morse End-Over-End Drum Rotator and Tilt-to-Load Drum Rotator, which are both sold by Nationwide Industrial Supply, would fall into this material handling category.

The Morse Tilt-to-Load Drum Rotators feature a power-lift and tumble drum which functions “corner-over-corner” allowing thorough mixing of contents. Ingredients are mixed right inside of the closed drums. This drum tumbler holds your drum at an angle creating “corner-over-corner” action. The Morse Tilt-to-Load Drum tumblers can be used to rotate plastic, steel, or fiber drums. Drum tumblers made by Morse Manufacturing save time, labor and money.

A Morse Drum Roller lets you roll your drum on its side. Essentially, this piece of Morse drum handling equipment eliminates clean up as well as reducing labor and safety concerns. Morse Mfg. makes the Hydra-Lift Drum Rotators, portable drum rollers, and stationary drum holders.

Hydra-Lift Drum Rotators lift and roll closed drums in order to mix the contents. This Morse Mfg. product allows for ergonomic loading and unloading and eliminates many of the hazards of manual drum handling. Hydra-lift drum rotators accept upright steel drums and allow for the control of the hydraulic tilt-to-lift function in order to move an upright drum and place it down on drum rotator wheels. The drum rotation is started and stopped by a second control.

Morse Portable Drum Rollers are compact drum mixers with drain stands that roll closed drums to agitate the contents. Otherwise important materials would remain unmixed in sediment. Mixing in sealed industrial drums eliminates exposure and clean up for employees. These Morse Drum Rollers have several options including fixed-speed and variable-speed models.

The Morse Stationary Drum Rollers are used to mix materials inside a closed drum, which saves labor, time and money. These Morse drum rotators ensure thorough mixing of contents with fewer hazards.

There are Morse Drum Dollies and Dolly Handles to accommodate 30-gallon and 55-gallon drums (114 and 208 liter drums). There is also a 5-gallon pail dolly or 19 liter pail dolly.

The Morse Clamp+Go Dolly Handle is designed to have proper ergonomics and to protect workers from injury such as catching your fingers between the drum and other objects. The drums become far more stable using the Morse Clamp+Go Dolly Handle because it applies even force below the drum’s center of gravity. This piece of material handling equipment works with various sizes of round drum dollies and allows greater control of the drum, greatly reducing the risk of the drum tipping over.

Morse Drum Trucks and Drum Palletizers include the 4-wheel drum truck, which allows you to move across rough terrain. This is the best selling drum truck offered by Nationwide Industrial Supply due to its durability and effectiveness. The Morse 4-wheel drum truck has a unique ergonomic design providing extra safety, ease of use while moving heavy drums and versatility.

The Morse Mobile-Karrier is more than a drum truck. This drum handler has features such as the ability to support the full weight of your drum to allow upright transport and avoid spills, automatic handle locks to prevent unintentional lowering of the drum and tilt locks on each side which can be used to keep the drum upright or horizontal.

The Morse drum spotter makes it quick and easy to move a drum off and onto a pallet. The drum palletizer spotter is compact and has an 800 lb. capacity.

The Morse Drum Palletizer with Lift and Pour eliminates many safety risks that can occur while pouring drum contents from 26” high manually. The V-shaped base of this Morse Mfg. material handling equipment is designed so you can raise and place a drum at the corners of the pallet. This drum palletizer has various lift and motor and capacity options.

Morse Drum Handling Forklift Attachments allow you to convert your forklift into a drum handler, thus allowing the driver to lift, transport, rotate, and pour heavy drums. The Morse Mfg. forklift attachments are available in stainless steel wash-down models, which can be used by food and pharmaceutical companies. Spark resistant models are available for explosion proof controlled environments. The Morse forklift attachments include standard duty forklift attachments, heavy duty forklift attachments, extra heavy duty forklift attachments, standard drum diameter adapters, spark resistant drum diameter adapters and stainless steel drum diameter adapters.

The MORSPEED forklift attachments allow you to handle almost any rimmed drum with your forklift. This fork-mounted drum handler makes it fast and easy to move and stack drums. The jaws of the MORSPEED forklift attachments are contoured to securely grasp various drums regardless of their diameter. The precision gripping mechanism on this Morse Mfg. forklift attachment is built to last. This material handling equipment even works on drums with damaged sides or straight walls and with or without pallets. The single head MORSPEED forklift attachments require a minimum of 75 lbs. per drum in order for the gripping action to start working.

Other Morse drum accessories are available including drum heaters, pail heaters and drum cones.

Safety enclosures to meet OSHA requirements

You can install all Morse Rotators in accordance with OSHA requirements to allow for enclosure and safety interlock, so the rotator automatically turns off when the enclosure door is opened. One way of the best ways to accomplish this is with a Morse enclosure with safety interlock.

For OSHA compliance, see OSHA subpart O.1910.212(a)(4) "Barrels, containers, and drums. Revolving drums, barrels, and containers shall be guarded by an enclosure which is interlocked with the drive mechanism, so that the barrel, drum, or container cannot revolve unless the guard enclosure is in place."
